I've only just stumbled on this site and I thankyou. Extraordinary! It is the stuff of dreams. Church road and Fripps Newsagents cum grocers shop with George Wardlaw's tiny little general store across the road. There was a barbers behind Fripps too. I didn't know it was the original Hayes Town. I lived around the corner in St Mary's Road for the first 23 years of my life. Your correspondent Maurice Burchell was 2 years my senior and for brief period in the early fifties, used to to look out for me while my mum was at work. But I seem to remeber we just got into trouble. I've only just stumbled on this site and I thankyou. Extraordinary! It is the stuff of dreams.

Maurice has seen this Tony, and hopefully we've put you both in touch. (He actually emailed ME before I emailed him!)
