This has been sent to us by IAN Millar (not THE Ian Millar who is our Chairman!!), who writes:....I found a black and white photograph of the Cub Scout troup based in
Hemmen Lane around about the same time. This photo was taken for the
MIddlesex Gazette after we had just been awarded our Conservation Badge for
completwely clearing the cemetary of overgrown plants and trees.

Front Row (left-right) - Howard (x), Me, Craig Pullen, ?, ? (don't remember
this guy's name but he always used to eat stones and gravel at school)

Between Craig and I - Iain Mackay

Top Row (left-right) - Paul Wardlaw, ?, ?, ?, Brian (x), ?, Ian Wardlaw

The Akela was Mr Cracknell (Charlie?) and I don't remember the Vicar.

Again I remember some of the faces, but not all.

John! Fantastic to hear from you. Thanks so much for the caption, maybe you'd like to tell us more? I'll make sure 3rd Hayes Cubs know you've been in touch. Are you able to tell us more precisely what year this was and do you remember any details of the actual occasion when this was taken?

Well I remember getting very dirty and tired we did work very hard and Paul Wardlaw (older than us) did a lot of the hard work I think when he turned up. I remember the vicar giving us communion chats etc. We had fete's on the church green to raise funds for the work. This would be about 1976/77 I remember the scout leader ?name helping a lot with his pipe in his mouth and a Yorkshire accent (scared the heck out of me) I remember that the ceremony was in the paper (hence the pic) and it was talked up as a major badge to have and not many boys had it!! ? I found a pair of old binoculars in the undergrowth which i have to this day..lol I went to Minet then then moved to Abbotsfield with Stephen Huckle (Dr Tripletts) same class for the 5 yrs he went to the MOD as an admin officer and has done very well for himself. I think Lee Sharpe later joined me in the Met police. I dont kbnow what happended to the others lost contact when we left the scouts in 1979. I still have my Kingsdown belt from our troop holiday in 1979..lol I also had a major role with the St John Ambulance Brigade very close to the Scout hall. Remember the Dents? marc I do believe his name was and the Bartlett family (Sandra was the envy of most of the lads..lol as was her friend Tracey Edwards, very quuiet girl if I remember rightly. I would love to here from you all and look at the pics you have online (maybe you could email me the password) John
