Marshall Clark, Asset Performance Planning Manager of Transpower New Zealand got in touch to say:
Transpower New Zealand still has in service a set of 110 kV power transformers made by British Electric Transformers of Hayes Middlesex in 1926. These transformers are about to be retired and scrappped. Is there anyone who is interested in photos or perhaps an original nameplate from these transformers before they go for scrapping in about 12 months time ?
We wrote back to say "yes please". He replied with these photos and the message:
"Here are a couple of photos I have immediately available. The transformers are still in service at our Woodville substation in the lower half of the North Island. We will plan to take some better photos before the transformers are removed from service and scrapped."
