junction of Cowley Road and Cotswold Close, again at the start of the Big Freeze of 1962-3. The pub on the right is the Van & Horses, which was demolished to make way for the re-alignment of Cowley Road. I used to live in the close, so that would have been my local, had I been a drinker then.

I admire your photography so much, David. The close-up and distance seems to be perfect. I am intrigued to know how big the pond was because, if this is half of it, I'm wondering how you took the picture without actually being in the water! Or perhaps some of it was frozen?

This was not a pond, Marian, but the Frays River and I was standing on the opposite bank. You can just see the support of the footbridge by the pub. The bridge is still there.
