Malcolm went to Mellow Lane and left about 1958.

I spoke to Malcolm, who became Captain Parrott, not long ago, after all these years! He was in my sister's form at school and he lived quite near us. Our phone conversation ended with him asking that, if ever there is to be a Mellow Lane reunion, he would like to come along. He would have plenty of interesting stories to tell and maybe one reunion wouldn't be long enough to hear them all!

Maybe someone ought to organise a renunion!
I'm just wondering about that address "Romney Parade". Does that refer to the flats above what were the shops in Romney Road and if so, I wonder why they put Charville Lane?

Malcolm's parents ran the Newsagents on Romney Parade and the family lived there over the shop. Malcolm went to Charville School for a while. Maybe the reporter just made a mistake with the address, or it could have been that the shops were called the Charville Lane shops rather than Romney Road because that would have given the best known area indication.
