This is tremendous, many thanks indeed. All my folks generation went through Townfield in the 1930s, so I'll do what I can to get them to look at it. Fingers crossed.

Do you know the relationship between Win Sceeny and Alf Sceeny of Orchard Road?

Answer to Ray's question;- Alf Sceeny was Win's uncle, her father (my grandafather) was Edward (Ted) Sceeny, other brothers were John Thomas and Charlie, both connected to Botwell Mission with Alf (Bass) Sceeny. I myself was born a Sceeny but was adopted within the family in the 50's, have tons of stuff on the family. be interested to know if I know you Ray ?

Excellent! I know an Alan Sceeny, though I've lost contact with him at the moment... I did see him a few months ago at the cash machine. He's in his mid 20s and grew up in Lawrence Road.

My Mum knew Winifred Sceeney at school and could be on this photo. Four teachers she remembers were Miss Walton (needlework) Miss Warsaw (not sure about the spelling) Miss Rendell (cookery) and Miss Hyde (music). She says that Miss Hyde wore necklaces of beads which swung around when she was conducting, which made them laugh. Apparently they sang in a Music Festival in Harrow. I wonder if there are any photos about to appear of this. I hope so. These pictures are very interesting. Thankyou.

Love all the feedback on the Townfield photo. The photo came from my last surviving aunt in Australia, Ivy Sceeny, later Walker she is now 86. Grace Banks on the photo married Ivy's brother Ralph Walker and they lived in Central Avenue next to the Rec. Would be interested to know Marian's mothers name, perhaps aunt Ivy will remember her ?

Hi there! My Mum only seemed to remember Winifred. Isn't it fantastic after all this time that there is a link, and I also thought it amazing that those teachers names came back to her as she was thinking back to schooldays. I will have to ask her what name she was known by at school. Lastly, did you know of the Sceeny family living near Minet Drive? .. Marian.

Hello again Marian;- Yes it cetainly is amazing, my aunt Ivy out in Australia is now 86 and although she is stone deaf and a bit wobbly she is still as sharp as a tack. She often sends me photos I have never seen before and believe me I have hundreds as I have been doing the family history for many years. We communicate regularly by letter and very often she describes bygone events in precise detail. She is also on the B.E.T. photos along with my mum and two other aunts including aunt Win. The Sceeny family who you mention near Minet Drive must have been my uncle Alf (Bass) Sceeny and his wife aunt Mabel who lived in Orchard Road, he used to play for Botwell Mission and was one of my grandfather's brothers. As for me I was born and lived just around the corner in Rowan Place, off of West Ave. I went to Minet and Townfield Boys.

That's marvellous. Thankyou for all that information. I will tell my Mum about your Aunt in Australia. My Mum looks about 20years younger than she is, and is fit and well in every way. She walks nearly every day, still does the gardening, and listens to her CDs.amongst other hobbies. I think it's wonderful that you have so many photographs, and if the rest are like the ones you have shown us, they must be so interesting to look at. Did you know any of the Sceeney family living in East Holme? I think that would be near Minet Drive? All the road names you mention are in my memory, but have forgotten where they were exactly. Central Avenue is clear though and the end of East Avenue near the town. Marian.

Hi! My Mum thinks that she is the 4th girl along from the right in the 2nd from back row. She was known as Molly and she thinks that the girls near her are Winifred Sceeney (she first of all said Irene so could have possibly been Ivy) and Kathleen Steel. Kathleen apparently was a solicitor's daughter from Yeading Lane. Quite a few names are coming back to her as she has a photo taken in the classroom. She is currently making a list as the names come back to her!

Message for Marian;- Hello again, aunt Win Sceeny is behind the centre teachers in white, with what appears to be a vertcal scratch on the photo of her face. Grace Banks is second from right back row. She married aunt Ivy's brother Ralph Walker and they lived in the end house in Central Avenue, next to the Rec. I don't know if you have seen it, but if you go to MLloyd's recent gallery, (he is my half-brother), he has put a photo of my real mum Vera and aunt Ivy taken at our house the last time she came over from Oz. Regards Barry

My Mum seems to have recognised Winifred Sceeny on the photo taken in the classroom. (I will have to see if I can get a copy). Just amazing they were in the same class. I wonder if you have made up a family-tree? It must be very interesting for you if you have.
