This verse is topical at the moment with so much concern at what Runway 3 might do physically to the area. Of course this is just one aspect of what we are doing to our planet and this poem says it all. A very striking photo too.

Thanks, David. I thought I would post this because of all the wonderful pictures of Harlington and Sipson in the past, and the threat of distruction hanging over these places and others around Heathrow now. Although the words were written some time ago, I thought they could be appropriate now. These are a shortened version of the song and the photo was taken just after midnight recently. I noticed it was looking perfect, and would also be perfect for the words. The blossom was a surprising added bonus.

Should have said in the above: 'I noticed that the moon was looking perfect'.

Hello, Sam, No, I didn't take the photo .. it was Dave who took it for me. I looked out of the window and saw the moon looked lovely so he went outside and took some pictures.

Sorry, I can see now that it says Dave by the photo. Good team work as they compliment one another.

Thankyou for the compliment. When I told him what you'd said, he remarked 'just like mother and son' and I got a hug!! Aah .. that was so nice, and on top of your appreciation of the poem and picture too. Thanks again.:-)

That is nice to hear Marian. Am I right in thinking that Dave is in fact your son ?? If correct then you are a talanted family indeed.

Yes, Sam, he is one of my two sons. He has written quite a lot of poetry but not many people know. (Now they do if many look on here and read this:-)) I think that it is better than mine and maybe deeper. Thankyou again for your kind comments. Maybe you have a special interest that you are good and, like Dave, just don't talk about it.

I think you & your son share the same trait in that you are too modest. In my opinion you both have exceptional talent. I'm afraid I have no such hidden creative talent, the best I can declare is that I am a 'tweeter'. In other words I have a keen interest in Ornithology (bird watching), I find it interesting and relaxing. I enjoy a little photography but tend to use the birds as my subjects. Maybe I can post a couple of pictures but it would need to be birds I have seen locally in keeping with this site. We'll see what I can sort out from my collection.

Hello Sam. Thankyou for your further compliments. I have found that people who promote their work, even if they are modest, can then be seen as being boastful which is a contradiction. It then becomes a difficult decision whether to bring any talent one may have out for others to appreciate and enjoy (maybe). For modest people to be thought of as boastful is quite disconcerting and can easily push them back into not wanting to share their work. I displayed my song/poem and photo because of the sentiments which seemed relevant. It was, therefore, very nice to see your comments as a bonus. Your own photos sound very nice of 'Hayes birds' :-)

Sorry Marian, my compliments were sincere. It was never my intention to offend you or cause you to not want to share your work. That would be a shame.

In friendship: Hi sam .. I was very pleased, (my son was too) when I read your comment and wasn't offended at all. I'm sorry, also, if you thought I was. I was just really explaining the difficulties of promoting work if one is basically modest, as you said that my son and I share the same trait in that we are too modest. It was just a bit of conversation and not said because I was upset. I, and my son, have been greatly encouraged by your kind comments which I always took as sincere. Hope you are reassured. xx
