Not only talented but had charisma also. Mr Trant made us feel proud to be involved in music and singing. He really made us feel worthy and special, and that was something over and above us being taught. A hidden lesson in discipline too. The support and praise of the press encouraged us with their following of our concerts etc. The local papers especially were always in attendance.

Sadly Brian passed away just a few years ago, although I like to think he is still here along with memories of Choir days. He was very professional and the name Maestro suited him as no-one could have disputed that he was a master of his art .. music.

Sorry to hear about your loss, you were clearly fond of him. Did you stay in touch after your school days ??

Choir carried on as the Hayes Girls Choir for those of us who left Mellow Lane. This meant I was in contact with him for some years after leaving school. There was a gap, then, when I was bringing up my children. He was really pleased when I visited, and then went along and joined in a few rehearsals with the younger Mellow Lane pupils. By that time they were not using the school for rehearsals, but a place near Hillingdon Fire Station, I think. We, sadly, lost contact when I left Hayes and I only learned the sad news of his passing away when I bumped into someone here who had known both of us in the past. He will always be on my list of the best people I have known in my life.
