I have found that many of Brian Trant's published arrangements are still on sale and being used. I found the Spirituals with a dedication to the Hayes Girls Choir on the Musicroom site. I'm so pleased that his name is living on. Maybe there should be a plaque for him at the school!

That's AMAZING Marian. I just did a Google search and quite a few things came up, and it seems you Briant Trant arrangements are sold by the Oxford University Press. I had no idea.

At St. Andrew's Church we occasionally sang a Missa Brevis by Brian in the Sunday service, and I noticed then it was published by OUP. Although I had no formal musical education, I regard Brian as one of two musicians who taught me much in an informal way. (The other was Anthony Hopkins, not the actor but a composer and pianist back in the 50'a and 60's.

I should have mentioned my other music-teacher, Mrs Lovis, who taught me to play the piano, which in turn helped with my school education. She should be remembered too as a good music-teacher. Thankyou, Jon, for the link to all those pieces we used to sing. I am trying to recall the Riddle Song but all the others I remember and have copies of most in Mr Trant's manuscript. Have just noticed your earlier post, Jon. I think that there were other publishers besides Oxford University Press, possibly Novellos. They have been taken over now, I believe. There is also a company in the U.S.A. selling his work.

I am told that the Riddle Song could be the song we know as The Twelfth of Never
that Johnny Mathis sang. Maybe David would know if this is correct?

Sorry, Marian, but neither title is familiar to me.
