This view of the Hayes factory appeared in an advertisement in the Connoisseur magazine for January 1914, and probably in other magazines at that time as well. The original building has now been extended at its west end, so that the clock tower is roughly in the middle. The roll factory on the right still only has three storeys, and there is no sign of the apparent barn type building that appears on the extreme left of the W. H. Applebee postcard from c1914, though this may well be artistic licence.
