It includes many of its important factories, and I've highlighted the Hayes factory in sepia. The main publication of this picture occurred in 1923, so it is interesting that the Silverdale Road building is shown in its original state, before the extension in 1912, and therefore with the tower and clock at the extreme west end. This particular version was published by Aeolian in Paris, which accounts for the French credits at the left. The Universal Music Company factory, where the music rolls were made, is at the right, and it is noticeable that the building was only three storeys high at this stage. · Date: Mon July 9, 2007 · Views: 2206 · Additional Info Print View · Send as e-Card

I have other pictures of Hayes itself in 1909, which I'm working on, and which will put this picture into perspective, and perhaps I'll edit this one in due course, to highlight different areas in different colours, with a listing of which building is which. rad1o Registered: October 2008 Posts: 1 Sat October 25, 2008 15:50 I have a copy of the picture of the factory ref 1912-06. I know my great Uncle William Dummett worked for the Universal Music Company before 1914 when he went to war. I now think my grandfather worked at the Aeolian factory as there is also a photo of him, probably taken at the same time as 06. Does any one know if there was a Band linked to the factory or if any staff records remain, please ?
