I was speaking with Clifford Seymour today (he attended Bishopshalt School from 1929 to 1933) and he has a vivid memory of this autogyro landing at Bishopshalt some nearly 76 years ago. Cliff says that the takeoff was even more interesting than the landing. Reginald Brie had to first spin the unpowered rotor with his own hands to achieve a set 'minimum rotation speed' before he could start the craft forward for takeoff. The rotor of this autogyro enabled the novel vertical landings. Not powered by any engine, the rotor kept turning only because of wind passing over the blades.
