These vehicles were the best, they were quick and fairly quiet apart from the whine which I think was from the transmission. Although I never rode them in the Hayes area they were my transport in my school life in Leytonstone, Forest Gate area.

This is a view of the Uxbridge Road at Hayes End just before the Methodist? Hall looking towards Lansbury Drive. Just up past the lorry was the 'Nutshell' and the entrance to Grundon's yard. The trollybus nearest the kerb is on layover awaiting turnaround at the 'White Hart' .
The picture dates to about 1958/9

Thanks Jester, and you're right about the Hayes End Methodist Church. (Driving past there today coincidentally, I see they have a refurbishment underway, big skip outside in the car park.)
