AEC Southall Drawing Office Staff - Dec 1972 Designer Eric Hayles - following Christmas Lunch at the "Boston Manor Hotel", Hanwell. See associated pictures on Pages 1 to 5. He was working on the AV761/AV770 (L12/TL12) camshaft and valve gear configuration at the time. Note the two-foot slide rule used for calculations, although a mechanical calculating machine, shown on the linked Page 11b (see below the image), was sometimes used. Looking north-eastwards through the windows on that winter afternoon, the Sports Field with its Pavillion, also some poplar trees on the Main Drive, are just visible. There are brighter springtime views on the linked Page 11b.
