What colour were engines painted before they left Southall Please? Dark Green?? Might as well ask the same question for Leyland. Tan?? |

Hi Peter, I used to work at an AEC truck and bus dealer and later at a local bus co, with many AEC buses. What I remember, at the dealer, the new chassis came in painted in a flat red lead colour. The gearboxes, were painted the same as the chassis, but the engines were painted a flat gray. If you want some useless info, Leyland chassis were painted the same flat red colour, but the engines were painted cream. I hope this helps Best Regards Bill |
