Red Bluebird
Yes Fife used the bird too! Note the tiny (FIFE) in the legal lettering.

I've only just realised that this is not in fact a bluebird at all (of which there are none in Europe), but a swallow, a species which (probably) really can be seen over the White Cliffs of Dover at appropriate times of the year.

Very Good point Mancunian,

Still the bluebird of happiness was a popular cultural meme in the early 20th century,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluebird_of_happiness

Both Stagecoach North Scotland and First in Edniburgh still use the Blue Swallow and the Bluebird brand, in fact they jointly own a company, called Nicecon Ltd to hold the trademarks.

Time permitting I chall upload the last of the GVVT pictures today.

Best wishes

Stephen Allcroft
