I am a member at The North West Museum of Transport in St. Helens, we have just fitted a 7.7 Matador engine in to a Daimler CWA6 wartime utility bus.
The question is, the engine has two dipsticks on the N/S of the engine, one short one and one long one, can someone tell me which dipstick to use as one is showing the engine oil as Full and the other is showing the engine oil as low, so which is correct?
Why does the engine have two different length of dipsticks, is there an internal sump in the outer sump or is it purely for a military application?
Thanks
