Bus 181

In the darker part of the garage here’s BUS181. It is a Regent O661 with 7.7 litre DI-engine and preselective gearbox new to Glasgow Corporation as a 56-seat Cowieson-bodied bus in 1938, it was rebodied by Scottish Commercial, using Crossley frames, in 1949, which is when it got the fleet number it is preserved with. It was converted to a recovery in the early 1960s by its second owner; Glasgow preferrred Matadors for that job. Glasgow aptly used part of the BUS registration series on Titans Venturers and Regents in the late 1930s.
